We’ve had a busy fall and are looking forward to fall break! I have decided to sign up with another mom to be a troop leader for Isabella’s new Girl Scout Daisy troop. We’ll see how it goes. Isabella met some of the girls already, and in true Isabella fashion, immediately made friends. She also loves school, especially her teacher, and is learning new Spanish words every day, as well as writing all the numbers up to a hundred.

Mythili is also enjoying preschool and gymnastics, though she has told us she doesn’t want to continue gymnastics once she turns four, as she would have to take the class by herself (right now we go through the class with her), so she’s going to take a little break from it. Mythili loves to read books and will sit with me all afternoon. She is a studious, patient child.

Riona’s language has bloomed in the past few months. She now says two-three-word sentences and repeats almost anything that she hears. She is very aware of sounds and other unknown items, and demands their names. The other day I was taking down laundry from the line and Riona kept asking, “What? What?” “I don’t know what you’re asking, Riona,” I said, and she snapped back, “What SOUND?” “Oh, that’s a weedeater you hear.” “Oh, wee-eatuh” she replied matter-of-factly.

My school has been all right, though I have so few students that next year I will either have to work at two schools or look for another job. This year I have been trying to ride my bike at least two times a week–it’s only 9 miles each way. It’s a good way to get exercise and save on gas during these crazy times.

Bruce will probably finish his degree next December, but I have a feeling he will want to stay home for a while. He likes it more than he lets on!

We’re looking forward to Christmas time, when Elizabeth, Zak, and my grandmother will all be here.
