The first leg of our trip is over. We drove all night and day and made it to Kentucky from Colorado in about 18 hours. On our way we stopped in St Louis to eat our picnic lunch underneath the arch at the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial.
We had no problems during this first part of our trip. The girls were great in the car and behaved very well while we were driving. We enjoyed an awesome sunrise while we were driving through Kansas. Traffic was not bad at all and we didn’t run into any bad weather except for a few patches of fog before the sunrise. It has been a great trip so far.
After arriving in Kentucky, we were happily greeted by Zak and Elizabeth. We all went for a walk to stretch our legs after being in the car for so long. On our way back to Zak and Elizabeth’s house, we got caught in a sudden down pour of rain that soaked us all. After a delicious dinner provided by Zak and Elizabeth, we enjoyed a fireworks show that went on here in the city of Mayfield.
