Well we have been back home now for a few days. We didn’t have any bad weather while we were on the road. The trip was good and we were glad to see everyone. Hopefully next time we are in town we will get to spend some more time with the friends we didn’t get to see.
We spent Christmas Eve with Nanny and Pappy, and had a great time playing BINGO. Santa came to Aunt Donna’s house and delivered gifts for us. He also made a stop at Nanny’s house and left us some gifts there.
A few days after Christmas, we took a little road trip to Asheville, NC to visit the Biltmore Estate. We started the day really early and got to the Biltmore at about 8am. We were able to walk right into the house and complete our tour before it got too crowded. By the time we finished touring the house there was a huge line to get in. We ate our lunch and walked through the greenhouse and some of the gardens. The kids got to go to the petting zoo and we also went on a tour of the winery. The tour of the winery ended in the tasting room were we got to taste a few different wines. We completed our day by going on a nice walk. The path led us through a nice garden area and then around a pond. The walk ended on the far side of the pond were we enjoyed the view of a man made waterfall. I had forgotten to bring our camera and didn’t realize it until we were pulling into the driveway of the estate. Luckily Rachel had their camera, so we got pictures from them.
On our way home we stopped in Kentucky and stayed with Elizabeth and Zak for a couple of nights. While there we visited the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. We all had a good time hiking around a small lake. The girls loved looking through the binoculars and seeing the different kinds of birds around the lake. We spent New Years Eve at Zak and Elizabeth’s house with Zak’s parents and sister. Zak’s mama fixed us a delicious dinner, and we rang in the New Year playing Pictionary and watching Dick Clark on the TV.
I have slowly been posting pictures of our trip onto my flickr page. I should be getting some of the Biltmore pictures on there soon. Hope you have fun looking at them.
