The summer vacation is over for us. Karen has started back to work for this school year. Isabella is back to preschool, and my fall semester at school has started.
We did quite a bit of things this summer.
At the beginning of June we celebrated Saundra’s birthday. The kids love to help blow the candles out.
They also love eating the cake.
Karen and I attended the surprise retirement party of her high school teacher Jana Clark. The party took place at the church that Karen and I got married in. Karen read a poem that she wrote and was able to catch up with old friends.
During the summer we visited the Denver Zoo and Elitch Gardens many different times. The girls could walk around the zoo all day long. Isabella and Mythili love to go to Elitch Gardens. The lines are always short in kiddy land, so that makes it easy on all of us.
Mid June my family from TN came out to visit. They stopped by on their way up to Yellowstone Nation Park. We all went to a Rockies baseball game while they were here.
We then took the long road trip up to Yellowstone. The drive up was nice and scenic. We stayed at a small hotel in the city of West Yellowstone in Montana. We spent a few days visiting the park and doing various activities that Karen planned for us. If anyone hasn’t seen the pictures we took just let us know. July was just as busy for us. On the 4th we went to Boulder reservoir with Karen’s parents. We got there early and setup our picnic under one of the few shade trees. We spent the day swimming and eating. That night Karen the girls and I went and saw some fireworks near our house. Isabella took swimming lessons for a few weeks. Mythili went with Karen and Isabella to the lessons. She got to swim in the kiddy pool. We went on our vacation to Mexico. We went back to Puerto Vallarta. Every thing about the hotel was great. We had a pool and a bar right outside our room. The food was great for all the meals. The only problem we had was all three girls got sick while we were there. It started with Isabella the night before we left. The other two girls got it while we were there. They all had a fever and cough which made them cranky. At least it wasn’t stomach problems. The trip was really great except for the minor sickness.
August has been a little slower. Karen and I celebrated my birthday and anniversary together. She surprised me for my birthday. She arranged for Mark and Saundra to watch the kids over night. We went out for a nice dinner together. Afterwards we went to the bed and breakfast that we stayed at on our wedding night. Karen managed to arrange all of this without me knowing or finding out about it. The room we had was great. The next day we went to see the Harry Potter movie. Karen had bought the tickets in advance to surprise me. If anyone wants to see the pictures from the bed and breakfast just let us know.
As you see from the post before, we also celebrated Riona’s first birthday. It was a fun party with family and friends. She loved the cake!
